Its about 4:25am right now, and i’m having a hard time sleeping.. I think its because of the heat (its acutally not that hot yet), its about 26C in my room right now… Anyway, so I thought i’d write a blog, since i’ve been lacking major these last few months.
2007 has been a great year so far. Its only May and I’ve already done so much, and are still planning to do much much more in the not to distant future… Hopefully another European trip, maybe buy a new guitar, world domination?
I recently bought a bike off Craigslist.. Its a FirmStrong Urban Deluxe Stretch Beach Cruizer bike (Long name).. Basically, it means that its a long bike… it kind of looks like a motorcycle. Its all chrome. Doesn’t have any gears. The seat is huge and comfortable. I like it a lot. Its been a long time since I’ve owned a bike, but its kind of reminded me of the freedom having a bike when I was a kid was like. I seriously cant imagine why I waited so long (after living in Toronto for nearly 2.5 years no, how I made it so long without having one. Having a bike, has also changed the way I look at driving (for the better), especially after almost being squished on two different occasions.
However, I do have one complaint about riding a bike in Toronto. This may seem completely bitchy, and assholeish, but I do feel as though bikers who complain a lot about how they are treated as vehicles on the road, are a bit of a whining bunch. I’ve not spent an enormous amount of time on the road, but over the last few weeks, I’ve spent a good chunk (in a bunch of different parts of the city). Its not that bad. People for the most part are very respectful of cyclists. If anything, they’re terrified of causing an accident, so they usually get out of MY way. It makes me wonder that possibly this bunch of people who complain about equality on the road cause some of the problems them selfs by being maniac’s. Anyway, just my .2c.
