Mike does NXNE

So my NXNE (North by North East) weekend was a huge success. I think that NXNE in Toronto is probably the most exciting thing i’ve ever done while in Toronto.. i’ve lived here for about a year and a half now, and I cant believe I completely missed it last year.

Birds of Wales played an exceptional show at the Drake Hotel at 1am on June 10th (or 11th depending on how you look at it). It was great, the place was packed, there were celebrities everywhere, and as well as the normal possie of attractive young females.

My most memorable moment of the night was talking to my new friend named Burgir from Berlin, and drinking OJ with him. Talk about strange.
Anyway, i’ll compile a list of acts i went to check out this weekend sometime soon and post it here.. There are too many to list off the top of my head. I would definately suggest anyone coming to Toronto in the spring to try and schedule a trip around NXNE, because its exciting, fun, people are so open and willing to talk to you, and theres lots of awesome music to be discovered. Thanks again to everyone who came to see us play!

  1. did you get a macbook pro?

  2. Sure did, are you jealous?

  3. hey – check out torontoist for a piece about the Birds of Wales showcase and pictures.

  4. nah, i pitty you. Intel Core-Duo 2 (64bit) is coming out very soon and Apple will use it in their 2nd rev of MBP

  5. Sadly, yes.. perhaps I will be missing out on a Intel Core-Duo 2….. but considering the heat that this macbook Pro creates (i’m convinced that its capable of burning exposed skin) I dont think i’d want a Core Duo 2….. I’m expecting them to put those new processors into the new Mac Pro tower….. theres no way they’d be able to fit one in these little macbook packages without causing some serious harm to people, and their loins.

  6. I got ice on your face while you tried to mack ladies
    Sucker!!!

    I love Mike

  7. Dude, you gotta keep up with MacNN and TUAW:

    http://www.tuaw.com/2006/06/13/hacker-installs-core-2-duo-chip-in-mac-mini-hangs-on-for-the-ri/

“Core 2 Duo chip, a next-generation CPU from Intel. The brain upgrade has resulted not only in the Mac mini stomping a PowerMac G5 dual 2.5 GHz in an iTunes MP3-AAC conversion test (remember: Mac minis have slower laptop hard drives than desktop PowerMacs), but it also runs cooler, due to the new architecture of these Core 2 Duo (code name: Merom) Intel chips.”

I think it’s still awesome that you have a MacBook Pro… But you coulda waited a couple of more months for Apple to ship those babies with Leopard :P

  8. It is awesome, especially since the main reason I bought it is to have a machine in Europe when the band tours there in August and October.

  9. Your blog frequently goes offline… how come?
