Birds of Wales reviewed in NOW Magazine

Friday, May 5th, 2006

To our surprise, on the eve of our actual CD release party, the Birds of Wales EP has been reviewed in the current issue of NOW Magazine. Heres a quick snippet from that article.

Maybe it’s just because summer’s almost here and we’ll all need a new soundtrack for those hot and lazy lemonade-drinking days, but there’s something wonderfully appealing about the soft and comfortable place Birds is able to tuck you into….. Birds of Wales get busy at Lee’s Palace Friday (May 5).

A couple bells and whistles

Thursday, May 4th, 2006

I’ve added a couple more features to the blog. Specifically: Gravatars in the comments.. This is kind of cool, you sign up for a “gravatar” account and you can upload a photo of yourself or whatever you want, and whenever you comment on a site that is “gravatar” enabled, your image will show up. Also, i’ve added a live search feature down in the footer of the page. You type what you want to search for and it will automagically bring up a list of articles that the database thinks what your searching for pertains too. its quite fast, and adds a little bit of a wow factor to the search form. I’ll be looking to add this to sites in the future, since its pretty simple and very cool.

Rockstar’s Weekend

Monday, May 1st, 2006

This past weekend has been the most Rockstar-ish weekend i’ve ever had. It was amazing. Friday night we went to Belleville to play at a place called MJ’s… The gig was pretty mediocre but we made the best of it, with some drinks. We arrived back in Toronto Late Friday night, so I slept in till about 1pm Saturday… When I got a call from a friend from home (Hey Bryn) who was going to be in town that night (coincidentally, it was my birthday celebration night). So Bryn and I hung out over at Dustin’s place for some pre bar drinks and some messin around with his drum kit, and guitars and such..

Bryn and I then went over to Clintons for some beer, Sweet Potato fries, and my delectable burger. It was grand. More friends showed up there and we all had some drinks and food. Then we headed over to Lee’s Palace (Dance Cave) for some good times there… From then on, its quite the blur. I’ve pieced a few things together from some other people. 1) I aparently dance with a giant smile on my face, and hold my beer very close to my body. 2) Placing Paul’s suit jacket on a ledge in a pool of beer….. And thats about it…

Morning after…. Urgh, You know the feeling… Now, think…. Photoshoot today with a professional photographer!!!! Yeah. I pulled myself out of bed wayy to early and got myself to the photoshoot, where i honestly thought I was going to vomit on Scott (sorry Scott). Overall the photoshoot well, I managed to hold the vomit back, but still felt pretty sick for the majority of the day. Afterwards, it was over to Paul and Scott’s house (its like their Married) for some chicken burgers and hanging out on the back porch with friends. Morgan, Paul, Scott, Claudia, and Remi showed up later on…. just in time for us all TO HEAR “Fall of the 49″ ON THE RADIO! Lets just say it was a little weird to hear your music on the radio. Creepy even. They plugged our CD Release party this week, which is awesome. Paul and I are gonna go out tonight and poster down bloor near Lee’s Palace.

Thats my weekend in a medium/large nutshell. How was yours?
