I couldn’t think of a title for this post - just read it you’ll understand

I normally try and keep my personal life and thoughts off of this blog, for obvious reasons, but I felt this needed to be shared, if not just to get it out of my head and into the world - if anything, I’m hoping it will somewhat therapeutic. If you’re not wanting to read my sad commentary, please disregard this post and don’t read past this point.

My friend Kristal P passed away yesterday afternoon. I’m told that her liver was failing, that’s all I really know.

I’ve been quite a mess since I found out, as we were not super close, however, I consider her a relatively large part of my life, even though I had only known her for roughly 3 years. She was 22.

Since I found this out, i’ve been slowly realizing that I am a hugely lucky person. Being able to do the things I do, having my friends, family and everything else around me.

At the same time, i’ve realized that I take a lot of these things for granted, and that I need to start taking these relationships and experiences more seriously, and not for granted as I have in the past, because they can be taken away at any point, like Kristal has been taken away from her family, friends and Me.

Some Guitar FX Videos

I spent some time this weekend recording some of my boutique guitar FX pedals showing their capabilities, etc…. For those of you who dont know, this is a very informative thing for guitar players who use FX pedals.

Please excuse the poor playing.. I dont know what was going on, but my fingers felt like butter that day.

Diaryofarockstar.com birthday fast approaching!!

Yes! Its coming! The birthday of this site. Amazing that It has lasted ths long, i’ve considered giving up on the blogging thing many times, but its still here! weee!

The site is actually older than 4 years, as I remember when I switched from using Movable Type to Wordpress, I wasn’t able to import some older posts…. So the particular date of birth for DOARS.com isn’t acutally known, but, its roughly 4 years ago July 22nd.

I’m going to really make an effort to redesign this site for then.. It needs it, and I keep saying i’m going to do it, now is the time! *determined face*

Why this apple fanboy (me) - will wait to get a 3G iPhone

Well, the big announcement we all (at least I did) expected happened yesterday afternoon at the WWDC Conference. iPhone 3G, slimmer, GPS, Better Audio, etc etc etc.

Its great that the phone will finally be coming to Canada, at such a great a great price, however… The phone is still lacking some key features I was looking for, specifically: a better camera, and 32gb storage.

I’ve currently got an 8gb iPhone with a cracked screen, and although the glass is ugly, it works great, and can get by for now with only 8gb storage. So, for this reason, i’m going to be waiting on this “1st generation 3G iPhone”. Its going to be worth it, as i’ve seen it in the past (many times), Apple updates products shortly after they’re released, with a new revision… So, heres hoping we’ll be seeing a 32gb version very soon after the initial launch of the phone!!

Complimentary iPhone Post

We all know its coming, the 2nd Gen iPhone will be released this week, and I want nothing more than to get it. My experiences with my 1st gen iphone in Canada has been nothing more than awesome. Its really a great phone, and although it may not be for EVERYONE - I think it does fill a certain market - that is, people who dont need/want a blackberry, and for people who love to carry their ipods around with them.

I’m certainly one of those people, If I didn’t have my iPhone right now, i’d be forced to carry around a phone + an ipod. This wouldn’t be the most horrible thing in the world, but, its just so much more convenient to have them both in one. Thats not even counting the functionality from the browser, email, contacts, games, MSN, Twitter, text messaging, photos. etc etc.

This is my iPhone 2.0 wishlist/speculation list

  1. BRING THE IPHONE TO CANADA WITH A DATA PLAN (rogers/fido)
  2. Better camera (3-4mp would be amazing)
  3. Video Recording
  4. GPS
  5. 802.11n wireless (only because I recently upgraded my router, and have found 802.11n so much better)
  6. 32gb or more Capacity (this would fit almost my entire music library)

Thats about it, pretty easy, and nothing really out of the realm of possibility. Either way, i’m going to be buying this phone, and will hopefully be able to enjoy some of its new features here in Canada.
