This summer has been nuts with shows and travel. This weekend, I had the chance to play the Sound Academy in Toronto for the first time, for the 2011 Edge 102.1 Sausagefest. The bands were: The Salads, The Reason, The Sheepdogs and Public Enemy. Insane!!!

No big deal. It was a great day. Wicked crowd. Can’t wait for the rest of the summer festivals to happen.

I just got myself a fancy new netbook to take with me on tour, so I don’t have to lug around my 17″ Macbook Pro, and I’m on the bus back from Hamilton, so I figured i’d give a blog post a shot.
A lot has gone on in the last few months, I’d say that the last 8-12 months have been a pretty big transition period for me. I’m one year older (yay 28?) and i’ve doven gone deeper into both my professional career, and also my other career. It’s really turned into two jobs, and I feel like i’m getting close to an equilibrium between the two. It’s a scary, but very exciting and refreshing point, because sometimes I feel like each feeds off each other – strangely, there’s a balance right now, and I don’t mind it at all. (Yes I realize i’m being a bit vague, but if you’re reading this, and you know me, you probably know what i’m talking about).
The band is progressing at an amazing rate. Shit is happening. We’ve booked some pretty major tours, and will hopefully be breaking into American or other markets by the years end (wishful thinking?). This new project was probably the most measurable shift in my life in the last few years – it really is a 2nd job – prior to now, I hadn’t really been at this level of commitment, nor would I have wanted it to. I guess somewhere in my gut I knew it wasn’t worth it to fully throw myself in, until it was really worth it.
All this, and I can say that professionally i’ve been confidentally pushing myself further than I ever have, which is really awesome because i’ve been trying to set goals for myself in regards to skill development and progression making myself more valuable, and skilled – I think during the last few months, i’ve kind of broken away from a stale spot I’ve been in professionally for quite some time. I’ve been pushing myself, and that’s awesome.
I’ll try and write a little bit about what the future holds in a few days I guess.

We were asked to film a promo video for Edgefest – I think a lot of the bands are doing it. Pretty good idea, most of the bands are doing something funny, so we followed suit with us posing as a make believe band called “Tuxedo” wearing nothing buy Denim. Check it out:
